"I have been with this State Farm company since I had first gotten a Car as a teenager! Now as an adult I still love State Farm and how reassuring and honest they are with me. "After being with a different homeowner insurance carrier for decades we found ourselves being in the position to shop around due to an enormous rate increase. Everyone at this agency was super helpful and very responsive keeping us informed with each step. You cannot put a price on great service and great communication. "Genissa and Christi took their time to throughly explain the coverage and help me determine what I wanted and needed. I had a ton of questions and both were able to answer all of them. They are responsive, and kept me updated on when my policy issued. I have been in contact multiple times since with questions I initially forgot to ask, each time they treat me like family. "They need to do better. Lack of transparent billing. Was a State Farm customer for 20 years. No more. Transferred insurance from out of state when I arrived in Cibolo. Liability for 2 vehicles was $65+/- mo. Added another vehicle for $110 or so more. Next month received a bill for $300! Retroactive billing they said. Okay, I bit my tongue and paid. The next month, $300+ again! Asked for refund and was told I was basically out of luck. If I had been told the clear amount your office was planning to charge me I would have changed insurance companies apon arrival. Well, you got my $500+ dollars overpaid but lost my business forever. Update to your reply: Alex, I do not appreciate the fact that your company's representative did not inform me of the fact that you'd be charging me 2 times the amount above the premium that I was quoted. Regardless of where the "extra" charges are coming from, the customer needs to be informed of this. Explain to me what person would be okay with being charged hundreds more dollars than they were quoted or expected to pay for car insurance? This reply you gave is exactly what I'd expect from you as I have seen that you have no respect for the fact that your company never made any attempt to make this situation right. Again, used State Farm for like 20 years until I dealt with your company. I'm glad I cancelled with you after 2 months as I paid hundreds of dollars over what I was quoted and refused to pay more. Next time, maybe an attempt to correct the situation or an apology might come in handy for you. Regards."
We responded:
"Ralph, I am sorry the billing was confusing to you, but I do not appreciate your inaccurate review. When a customer transfers in from out of state, the policy information as well as the billing does have to go through a transfer process which does take time for underwriting to make sure all credits are applied from one state to the next as well as properly pro-rating and crediting premiums from one state to the next - the billing will lag for that process. On top of that, when adding a car, we allow customers the option of making an added car payment at the time the car is added (which makes the billing smoother) or deferring the added car payment and letting the billing catch up later for the added car. For example, if coverage is started for a new vehicle on January 1st, but it's not billed for until Feb 15th, the billing for Feb 15th would include the current payment for added vehicle as well as a prorated amount due for the period Jan 1- Feb 15th. In both cases, we are providing coverage without having the full premium payment. There is no record of the payments you described in your review, and your policies cancelled over 6 months ago after being insured for just 2 months without making a full premium payment. There was not a refund available because coverage was being provided without the full premium payment. I verified with underwriting today that upon completing the catch up premium payments, your premium for all 3 cars would have been just $126.33 per mo in starting in November. Thank you, Alex"

"The people here are very nice but this insurance is a complete scam. Any type of coverage you pay an arm and a leg for each month and when it’s that rare moment you need that service and you make a claim then your already outrageous rate are going to go up even more. This may not be the same for other people but I will never recommend State Farm to anyone. Again the staff are great and professional and personal But for the rates that State Farm has and for the actual services handed out without any stipulation is a scam. Ripping good hard working people off. Should start grouping people with those who abuse there insurance as one group and grouping people who rarely use for emergencies only as another group and adjust rates that way. I currently have been with State Farm for about 12 year and constantly getting let down. They sell you on getting all this coverage and when it comes time to use it then they tell you that you can use it but your rates will go up for using it. Even if it’s only using it once."

"Kevin. I am very surprised by your review as we have gone above and beyond for you over the years. I understand that you were upset this morning when you called to share that you had low pressure in one of your tires and wanted to file a claim. I feel one of the best things about our office is that we provide counsel to our customers. If someone has a low or flat tire and is capable of changing out a tire, in most cases it's usually better to change out the tire with the spare versus filing a claim for roadside service. To my knowledge, claims frequency is something that is factored by most, if not all, auto insurance companies, and a lot of people are not aware that even roadside service claims are factored into frequency. You're welcome to use your coverage and file a claim at any time, but it is important to my team and me that our customers are able to make informed decisions when choices are available; including choices that can help keep your rates lower."
